Day trip to Nafplio

Starting our tour from Athens, we will continue over the Corinth Canal towards Nafplio.

Nafplio is accurately considered the most romantic and picturesque city of Peloponnese. It was the first capital of modern Greece during 1823-1834. Nafplio was consecutively occupied by various populations; Frankish, Venetian and Turkish, that strongly influenced its culture & architecture. The old town of Nafplio has narrow streets, the famous Syntagma Square, the church of Agios Spiridonas to name only a few of the sights that this city has to offer its visitor.

Mpourtzi is a small island across Nafplio harbor that you can visit on a small boat. Above Nafplio lies Palamidi Castle with the spectacular view that is worth the visit.

There are plenty of beautiful stores to buy souvenirs or even the popular komboloi (a circular string of beads used as a pass-time in Greek culture) typical of Nafplio.

After a rewarding walk inside the city and before we return to Athens, you can relax with a drink by the sea or enjoy a meal in one of the city’s lovely taverns and restaurants.
